My name is Julie and this blog is my newest creative outlet. I've been a military (Air Force) wife for 7 years and a mom to Hank for 3 years and our newest addition Cami will be arriving in the next 3 weeks! I love to cook and share new recipes, I love crafts, I LOVE pinterest, and I love saving money. I hope to post about all of these things. I also needed somewhere to go to express my feelings about being a mom with a hubby in the military so I'll be posting those stories too. Some of my dear friends have volunteered to join me on this journey. I'm going to spend a few days introducing them to you and then they are going to post their stuff too. I hope this site becomes a place for military moms to band together and help one another. I would love for it to become a resource for those of us who move all over the country and have to search for new beauticians, grocery stores, areas of town, churches and most of all in our search for new friends.
First up is my friend and fellow Air Force wife, Petrina. Petrina is a nine-year military spouse and has fully embraced gardening for the last three years. Although she does plant flowers, her main interest is in organic fruits and vegetables. Her original 4'x4' herb garden has grown steadily to encompass over eighty square feet of raised organic beds and planters (did I mention that she has dons all of this gardening in BASE housing?!) She has also homeschooled her nine-year-old daughter for the past four years and other than gardening, her hobbies include yoga and running. She is looking forward to a successful summer growing season and in participating in her first 5k.
Next up is our first Army Wife - No they haven't cast her on the show...yet, Kendra. Kendra has been married for 11 years. She has two beautiful girls Brielle and Annaka and precious baby boy Brock, and sweet baby Rex. Kendra is an awesome writer and often writes open and honestly about her daily life. She has an uncanny way of making you feel like you were right there by her side on her adventures with her kids.
In her words:
I enjoy running and wish I had a few more spare hours in the day to get a bit more of that done. Although I am not sure if it is the running or the quiet alone time it provides me. Yep...as I type this and ponder that question, I am mentally confirming that running is a great escape. Anyone want to come along?
I am still trying to find my niche as a stay-at-home-mama. Most days it's great, but not so glamorous other times! However, I know I have the best job in the world! What job could be better? Among the perks: unlimited kisses, elastic waist pants, continued reminders from little mouths that I am kind of a big deal, endless games of Uno and Princess--complete with fancy dresses and shoes, and the ability to be the only boss. Let me not start on the things that I could do without...The benefits outweigh those things anyway.
I taught middle and high school for a few years but now...I am a domestic engineer... investing in the futures of babes. (Nice huh?) Teaching pays crap, and 2 in daycare would have resulted in no pay check to take to Macy's. Yuck.
I stink at staying in touch with people. Phone numbers and emails continue to escape me, but I am trying to work on it!
